Wilson- Memorial Services for Mrs. Wilma Jean (Meyer) Miller are scheduled for 2 PM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Pastor Waylon Dancer officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Wilma Jean Miller was born August 10, 1929 at Hominy, OK to the late Mr. Edward Albert Meyer and Mrs. Hazel Edith (Wheeler) Meyer. She departed this life Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Wilson.
Wilma attended school at Gray Horse through the 6th grade. She moved to Fairfax, OK for the next few years to complete her freshman year and later graduated from Edmond High School in 1946. Upon completion of a secretarial course at Central State College, Wilma was employed by Columbia Pictures in Oklahoma City in 1947, where she met William Miller. Wilma and William were married on December 2, 1949 in the First Christian Church at Edmond, OK. They resided in Oklahoma City until 1966 where they were transferred to San Francisco, California and later Seattle, Washington. Upon retirement they returned to Wilson, in 1997.
While residing in Wilson, Wilma was the secretary of the Wilson Historical Society Museum and Treasurer of the First United Methodist Church. Upon her husband having a stroke in 2007 paralyzing his left side, she devoted all her time to his care. She always put her family first and dedicated her life to her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Preceding her in death was her parents, Ed and Hazel Meyer.
Survivors include her husband William "Bill" Miller, daughter Deborah Polios and husband William; brother, James Meyer all of Wilson; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
