Mr. Willie “Doyle” Hamilton, 82, of Cheek, departed this life on December 11, 2024, at his home. A Home Going service will be held in his honor on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Lone Grove, with Rev. Bill Black officiating. Following the service, interment will take place at Cheek Cemetery, located south of Lone Grove.
Born on June 26, 1942, in Cheek, Doyle was the son of the late Mr. Willie Savage Hamilton and Mrs. Marie Elizabeth (Jone) Hamilton. He grew up in Cheek and received his education in Lone Grove. Doyle married Lucretia Lang, and together they were blessed with five children: Telina, Burlena, LaDoyle, Willie Jr., and Tonya. He dedicated many years of his life to his career as a mechanic, first working on boats before joining Carter District III, where he served as both a mechanic and later as Road Foreman until his retirement in 2002. In 2006, Doyle married Melba Denney, and they made their loving home in Cheek.
Doyle had a passion for rodeos, fishing, and boating, activities that brought joy to his life. He was also an active member of the Lone Grove First Baptist Church, where he found a supportive community.
Doyle is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, LaDoyle, his siblings, Gerald, Roy, Juanita, Beatrice Van Buskirk, Kenneth Hamilton, and his grandson, Mikey Wood.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Melba (Denney) Hamilton; his beloved children, Telina Wood and husband Mike of Lone Grove, Burlena Lozano and husband Jesse of Pauls Valley, Will Hamilton and wife Lou Lou of Cheek, Tonya Briscoe of Lone Grove, and Waylon Hamilton and wife Kristian of Ardmore. Doyle also leaves behind his siblings: Harold Hamilton of Weatherford, TX, Warren Hamilton and wife Nelda of Ringold, TX, Glenn Hamilton and wife Glenda of Chickasha, and Genova Stoker of Dickson. Additionally, he is cherished by 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way), one great-great-grandchild, stepchildren Sue Tice of Ardmore, Deanna Conway and husband Paul of Edmond, Penny Saraba and husband Marvin of Pauls Valley, his sisters-in-law Joyce Mullins and husband Junior and Velda Denney of Lone Grove, along with numerous extended family and friends.
Pallbearers honoring Doyle’s memory will be Hunter Hamilton, Hayden Hamilton, Chase Brisco, Bryce Tibbs, Jesse Lozano, and Cade Tibbs. His honorary bearers include Bill Jones, Taz Bryant, Chad Briscoe, Lyndol Van Buskirk, Junior Tucker, Ralph “Junior” Mullins, and Marvin Ingram.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
