William Lee Hopson

Wilson - Funeral Service for Mr. William "Bill" Lee Hopson, 65, formerly of Pooleville, are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, August 21, 2017 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Monk Firestone officiating. Cremation services will be handled after the funeral at Alexander~Gray Crematory of Ringling.


Bill was born on June 6, 1952 at Ardmore to the late Mr. William Preston "Press" Hopson and Mrs. Pearlene "Dick" (Ashton) Hopson. He departed this life on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Ardmore.


Bill was raised at Polleville and Elmore City. He attended school at both Fox and Elmore City graduating high school from Elmore City. He was drafted into the United States Army serving one tour in Vietnam. Bill primarily lived at and around Jonesboro, GA where he worked in air conditioning and refrigeration.


He and the former Ms. Doris Lynch were united in marriage on Feb. 5, 1970 at East Point, GA. They later remarried on April 2, 2004 at Cleveland, TN. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing all of his life. He was also very educated in history always loving to read. He will be remembered for his generous heart and his unique nicknames he gave everyone.


Preceding him death are his Parents; sisters, Dalene Burton, Wanda Burton, and Charlene Pruitt and brother, Curtis Forehand.


Survivors include his wife Doris Faye Hopson of Temple, GA; children, Shannon Lee Felt and husband Andy of Elberton, GA, William Derrick Hopson and wife Betsy of Lincoln, AL, Jason Kyle Hopson of Jackson, GA, Jonathan Lee Hopson of Jackson, GA, Jessica Hicks Harris and husband Marcus of Hampton, GA, Samantha Quinn of Temple, GA and Patrick Quinn of Germany; sisters, Brenda Norrell and husband Rick of Ardmore and Shirley Short and husband Terry of Opelika, AL; brother, Jimmy Burton and wife Peggy of Ratliff City; sister in law who was like a mother, Eva Forehand of Elmore City; 18 grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are family.
