Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. William “Bill” “Pappy” Robert Dickson, of Ardmore is scheduled for 1:00PM, Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Danny Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Montague County, TX at 4 PM. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Mr. William “Bill” “Pappy” Robert Dickson was born August 25, 1933 at Wellington, Texas to the late Mr. Winford Jewel Dickson and Mrs. Oma Lee (Lowry) Dickson. He departed this life on Saturday, December 3, 2016, in Ardmore, OK.
Bill was raised in Hereford, Texas. He was flying at the age of 9 years old and graduated high school at Hereford, Texas. He then studied to be a radiologist, following his mother’s wishes, but chose to be a career pilot, starting as a crop duster with Clovis Spraying Service of Hereford. Bill married Ms. Barbara Jean Kimbrough on June 26, 1953 at Hereford, TX. He went to work for Central Airlines and later for Frontier Airlines, retiring as a captain in 1983. He loved ranching, having his ranch in Sunset, TX. Bill also had a love for Hereford cattle, enjoyed running a bulldozer and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alvord, TX. He was also a member of Hereford Masonic Lodge #849 as Master Mason.
Preceding him in death was his parents; wife, Barbara Jean Dickson on August 20,1992; son, Randall “Randy” Brett Dickson; brothers, Jimmie Lee Dickson and James Dale Dickson; Son-in-law, Bill Ausbrooks and stepfather, Ocil Parsons.
Survivors include daughters, Karen Kay Ausbrooks of Ardmore, OK and Roberta Deann Powell and husband Bob of Sunset, TX; granddaughters, Mary Kathryn Nava and husband Chris of San Angelo, TX, Rebekah Lauren Robinson and husband Chuck of Cisco, TX; Great Grandson, Jett Royal Nava of San Angelo, TX; brother, Gene Dickson and wife Jerry of Carthage, TX; special friend who was like a daughter, Agatha Hartman; four legged granddaughter Sweetie Ausbrooks and numerous other family and friends.
Casket Bearers will be Harold Maughan, Chris Nava, Chuck Robinson, Willie Vance, Phillip Vance, Bobby Lowry, Ron Sanford and Ray Chaney.
Honorary Bearers are the late Bill Ausbrooks and the late Punk Hartman.
Family visitation will be from 6-7pm Tuesday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, OK.
