William "Bill" Estell Barbour

Wilson ~ Funeral Services for Mr. William “Bill” Barbour, 82, of Wilson are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 7, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Rev. David Allen officiating and Rev. Jason Williams assisting. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery of Wilson with Military Honors provided by the Patriot Guard and the Chickasaw honors team. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Mr. William “Bill” Estell Barbour was born March 30, 1932 at Wirt, OK. to the late Mr. J.D. Barbour and Mrs. Mellie Maye (Ferguson) Barbour. He passed from this life Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Wilson, OK.


Bill was raised in Wilson attending school here. He joined the Army National Guard in Healdton on November 15, 1948. Bill served honorably during the Korean Conflict as a Pistol Marksman.

He continued to serve after his active duty until his honorable discharge from the Armed Forces on February 8, 1954 as a SGT. Bill married the former Ms. Nancy Mae Strong on July 17, 1954 at Freer, TX. They made their first home in Wilson shortly before moving to Ft. Worth, TX. Bill worked for the General Motors Arlington Assembly Plant as an Auto Painter for over 30 years. After retirement he and Nancy moved back to Wilson in 1991. Bill enjoyed fishing, playing music and enjoyed writing poems and publications for the Wilson Post. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wilson.


He is preceded in death by his Wife, Nancy Barbour- Nov. 3, 2009; Parents, J.D. and Mellie Barbour; and Grandson, Joshua Mahaffey.


Bill is survived by his Children, Bobby Barbour and wife Zelda of Springtown, TX. ,Susie David and husband Garry of Springtown, TX, Mandy Mahaffey and her late husband Neil of Lebanon, Billy Barbour of Wilson and Diane Heath and husband Donald of Fort Worth, TX; 15 Grandchildren and 29 Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Emma Jean Tucker of Simon, Wilbur Barbour, and Mona Welch and husband Stan, all of Wilson; Numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends and too many chosen family members to list, but you know who you are.


Casket Bearers are Christopher David, Jeremy Barbour, Neil Mahaffey, III, William Dana Barbour, Ryan Parsley and Matthew Heath.


Honorary Bearers are Bobby Barbour, Jr., Joshua Lowrence, Darren Barbour, Terrell D. Tucker, Pat Tucker, Gary Don Sanders, Charles Stevens, Donald Henderson and Billy Ray Harkins.


Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Sunday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
