William Almon Willis

Wilson - Graveside Services for Mr. William "Bill" A. Willis, 89, formerly of Wilson, is scheduled for 10am Saturday Nov. 12, 2016 at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Bill was born on March 23, 1927 at Asburry, MO to the late Mr. Almon D. Willis and Mrs. Iva M. (Moore) Willis. He departed this life Wed. evening Nov. 9, 2016 at Ardmore.

Bill was raised at Galena, KS attending and graduating school there. He was drafted into the United States Army during WWII and served honorably escorting deceased soldiers back home to their families. He was honorably discharged on Dec. of 1946. He married the former Pauline "Polly" Allen on Dec. 29, 1946 at Galena.

Bill worked within the banking industry most of his working years. They moved to Wilson in 1967, where Bill was a Banker and resided for many years. He also owned and operated Tri-City Loans of Wilson, and most recently worked at WinStar as a cashier. Bill was always very active in the communities he worked within. He was a member of the Wilson Rotary Club, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and the First United Methodist Church of Wilson. His wife Polly preceded him in death on April 24, 1992. Also preceding him in death were his Parents; son, William A. Willis, Jr. - March 13, 1983; and a brother, Richard "Butch" Willis.

Survivors include his Daughter, Cindy Coomer of Marietta; Son, Bobby Willis and wife Paula of Ardmore; Sisters, Willa Murray of Las Vega, NV and Jeannie McCord of Grove; grandchildren, Adam Coomer, Alicia Willis, Jason Braziel and Holli Braziel; numerous great grandchildren; special friend, Katy Oliphant of Marietta; numerous other family and friends.

Honorary Bearers are Bob Longest. Jeff Ratcliffe, Jerry Mashore and Randall Brinlee.

Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Friday evening at the funeral home of Wilson.
