Leon – Funeral Services for Mrs. Wanda Mignon (Black) Russell, 95 formerly of Rubottom is scheduled for 11:00 AM Wed. September 25, 2013 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with nephews David Russell and Thomas Russell officiating. Interment will follow at Leon Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Wanda was born March 26, 1918 at Pike, OK to the late Mr. John Dewey Black and Mrs. Arizona (Fish) Black. She departed this life Thursday, September 19, 2013 at a hospice facility in Oklahoma City.
Wanda was raised at Orr where she attended school. She married Mr. Ned Taylor McKinnon in 1933 at Orr and to this union came 6 children, Peggy, Rick, Laquita, Frances, Marvin and Eldridge. Ned preceded her in death in 1950. Later she was reunited in marriage with Mr. Bob Russell on August 6, 1955 at Jacksboro, TX. To this union added 2 children, Donald and Ranee’ to the family. They resided at Rubottom until relocating to Dover, OK in 1975 following Bob’s employment in the Oilfield. They were residents of Dover until December of 2012 when they relocated to Cordell. Wanda was a longtime member of the Victory Baptist Church of Kingfisher and most recently had been attending church at the Calvery Baptist of Cordell. She enjoyed flowers, vegetable gardens, reading , chickens and all the church activities.
In addition to her husband Ned, also preceding her in death are her Parents; Children, Peggy, Rick, Frances and Eldridge; 3 Brothers, Steve, Sam, and Marvin “Ras” Black.
Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Mr. Bob Lee Russell of the home in Cordell; Children, Laquita Woodell of Casper, WY, Marvin McKinnon and wife Brenda of Wilson, Donald Russell and wife Sally of Hennessey, Ranee’ Green and husband Randy of Weatherford; Daughter in law Dee McKinnon of Ardmore; 13 grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 10 Great Great, 3 Great Step grandchildren, 2 Great Great Step Grandchildren . Numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Grandchildren and Honorary Bearers are Spouses, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be from held 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
