Wilson- Graveside Services for Mr. Walter J.C. “Jerry” Morgan, 95, former resident of Simon, is scheduled for 2:00pm Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Rosehill Cemetery of Ardmore with Rev. Monte Dean officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Mr. Walter J.C. “Jerry” Morgan was born September 14, 1917 at Collin County, TX to the late Mr. Preston Otis Morgan and Mrs. Mary Evalyn (Holmes) Morgan. He departed this life Friday, March 15, 2013 at Hurst, TX.
At the age of 3 years old Mr. Morgan crossed Red River on a ferry with his family settling south of Wilson residing mostly at Simon. He attended school at Post Oak, Simon, Reck and Zaneis and moved to Ft. Worth in 1943 where gained employment at Consolidated Aircraft. He worked as an assembly mechanic building all the components and parts for helicopters. He was also employed at General Dynamics for 19 years before beginning his career with Bell Helicopter where he retired from in 1981. After retiring he moved back to Simon where he farmed and ranched. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He is preceded in death by his Parents; Daughter, Oleta in 1969; Son, Gilton "Wayne" - 1981; Sisters, Myrtle Summers - 1980, Beulah Harvey- 2000, Lola McClendon - 2000, and Juanzale Madole - 2010.
Survivors include a daughter Wanda Pearce of Ft. Worth; 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends.
