W.A. "Dub" Taliaferro

Lone Grove - A Celebration of Life for Mr. W. A. “Dub” Taliaferro, 89, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Lone Grove with Rev. Don Clark and Rev. Bill Black officiating. Interment will follow at the Taliaferro Rest Cemetery in Lone Grove. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


Dub was born February 5, 1925 to Mr. Oris W. Taliaferro and Mrs. Annie (Parker) Taliaferro at Lone Grove He passed from this life Monday evening, April 7, 2014 at his home in Lone Grove.


Dub was raised in Lone Grove attending school there. He was very athletic and was a great basketball player. He married the former Ms. Elva Louise Davis on April 9, 1959 at Rexroat Baptist Church by Rev. Don Clark. Dub was a dairy farmer for several years before he began running a grocery store in Dillard until 1967. He then put in a furniture store in Lone Grove where he and Louise worked side by side until they retired in 1986. Dub then raised cattle and tended to his rental properties. He loved to hunt, go fishing, and most of all go on trail and wagon rides. He was very involved in the Lone Grove Senior Citizens Center where he loved attending and also enjoyed dancing at the area Senior Citizen gatherings. Dub was a devout Christian from the age of nine, but due to his illness he hadn’t been able to attend church since 2007 and was of the Baptist Faith.


He was preceded in death by his Parents, Mr. Oris W. Taliaferro and Mrs. Annie (Parker) Taliaferro, Brothers, Orville, Fred, Edwin; Sister Selma Hammett; Brother in laws Ned Hammett, Curtis Willis, and several Aunts and Uncles.


He is survived by his Wife, Elva Louise Taliaferro of the home, Daughters, Wenona Taliaferro and James Sapp, Tuajuanna Roberts and Husband Larry, all of Lone Grove, and Donna Kay Flores and Husband Joe, of McKinney, TX; Sister, Jerilene Willis of Lone Grove; Sister in Laws, Deloris Taliaferro, and Bobbie Taliaferro, both of Lone Grove; Grandchildren, Tommy Spradling and Wife Beckie, Lindsey Bennett and E.J. Forsythe, Court Roberts and Wife Michelle, Clay Roberts and wife Kristin, Alex Flores and Wife DeAnna, Joseph Flores, James Flores and Wife Liz, Libby Roberts, and Hannah Sapp. Great Grandchildren, Kamryn Eubanks, Ava Forsythe, Rebecca and Hannah Roberts, and Aaron Flores. Numerous other Family and Friends.


Pallbearers will be Mickey Davis, O.L. Gray, Jimmy Taliaferro, Steve Taliaferro, John Taliaferro and Eric Taliaferro.


Honorary Bearers are all the Grandsons and Charlie Taliaferro, Men’s Sunday School Class, Bob Dewbre, Ernie Hoskins, Calvin Woods, Monte Willingham, Theron Price, Paul Willingham, Errol Taliaferro, and Leon Zellner.


Family visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 7pm at the Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
