Virginia Jackson Denney, formerly of Lone Grove, departed this life on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 in Waycross, Georgia, at the age of 94 years. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at the Lone Grove Cemetery with her nephew Charles Denney officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Virginia was born on February 6, 1928 in Albion, OK to the late Mr. William Harrison Jackson and Mrs. Marguerite (Guigo) Jackson.
Virginia was raised at Soper, OK and graduated from Soper High School. She married Mr. Luther Marvin Denney on October 9, 1955 at the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore. They made their home in Lone Grove and owned and operated the Hilltop Restaurant on South Commerce in Ardmore. The couple worked sided by side for many years. Virginia loved reading her bible as she was strong in her faith. She was a previous member of the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church. Her family was her everything as she devoted most of her life helping wherever she was needed. For years she even helped many ladies within her church. She also enjoyed reading and doing cross word puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She was an amazing women with such grace & her smile would light up the room.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Luther Marvin Denney on September 18, 1992; her parents; 2 sons, Ronald L. Parker and Reagan Denney; son in law, Glenn Wendt; siblings, Joe Jackson, Sherman Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Charlie Jackson, Madeleine Minyard, and William Harrison.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Carolyn Wendt of Lone Grove, and Judy DeShazo and husband Jim of Waycross, GA; 6 grandchildren, Jerry Schreiner and wife Marci, Misti Flomer and husband Paul, Jennifer Mastin, Sy Schreiner, Amanda Parker, Leah Duvak and husband Jody; 21 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Schreiner, Sy Schreiner, Paul Flomer, and Jody Duvak.
Visitation will be held 6 – 7:00P.M. Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
