Healdton - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mrs. Virginia "Sissy" Mae (Brady) Duke, age 87, who went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. A dear Momma, Meme, and friend, Virginia's life will be remembered and celebrated at a service scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Harris officiating. A private interment will follow.
Virginia was born on July 13, 1937, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to the late Virgil Howell Brady and Ella Mae (McHenry) Brady. Raised in the Wirt and Dundee areas, she graduated from Dundee Schools, laying the foundation for a life filled with love and dedication to her family. On August 6, 1955, she married Ronald "Babe" Duke in Wirt, Oklahoma, and together they nurtured a loving family, welcoming three children: Ronda, Dennis, and Lydia. Virginia found joy in every moment spent with her husband, who preceded her in death on May 25, 2021.
Throughout her life, Virginia exemplified kindness and warmth. She worked at Coburn Plumbing Supply in Longview, Texas, before retiring to care for Ronald's parents, demonstrating her generous spirit. Her heart swelled with pride as she cheered her grandchildren on at their sporting events, and she cherished the time shared with her sister-in-law Naomi, and her sister, Linda, in Arizona. Virginia had a passion for good Mexican food and would often enjoy a margarita while celebrating the holiday season with her grandchildren.
Virginia was not just a mother; she was an amazing "Momma," a guiding light for her children, and a beloved "Meme" to her grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched. Preceding her in death were her parents, her beloved husband Babe, her brother Bill Brady and his wife Naomi, and her son-in-law Ted Shell.
Virginia is survived by her adoring children, Ronda Shell, Dennis Duke, and Lydia Jaremko and husband Mike; her grandchildren, Amy Day and husband Ryan, Steven Shell and wife Natalie, Erin Dewald and husband Dirk, and Laura Matos and husband Micheal; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Tyler Shell, Samantha Eads, Xander and Edith Mae Matos, Landon Dewald, and Drew Shell. She also leaves behind her sister, Linda Loven, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them for visitation on Sunday evening from 2-4 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
Virginia's spirit will forever shine brightly in the memories and hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of those who have gone before her.
