Verna Mae Roberts

Ringling - Funeral Services for Mrs. Verna Mae (Hawkins) Roberts, 74, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday April 16, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ Gospel Tabernacle with Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Verna was born on August 28, 1943 at Ringling to the late Mr. Alvie Vernie Hawkins and Mrs. Doris Mae (Camplain) Hawkins. She departed this life on Thursday April 12, 2018 at a healthcare facility in Oklahoma City.

Verna was raised at Center Point attending school there and later at Ringling. She married Mr. W.B. "Dub" Roberts on October 30, 1960 at the Gospel Tabernacle in Ringling during her Senior year. She graduated high school as Valedictorian of the Ringling High School class of 1961. She and Dub were blessed with five wonderful children sharing 53 years of marriage together. Dub preceded her in death on March 27, 2014.

Verna was always a devoted wife, mother and christian. Her God, her husband and kids were all to her. She enjoyed playing the piano, even after she became blind.

Also preceding her in death is her Parents; daughter, Charity Ann and a brother Jeffrey K. Hawkins.

Survivors include her four children, Faith Wright , Jeanie Miller and husband Doug all of Ringling, Billy Roberts and wife Christie of Loco and Boyd Roberts and wife Shayla of Greenville, SC; Sister, Lana King and husband Gerald of Baytown, TX; brothers, Gary L. Hawkins and wife Sue and Larry J, Hawkins and wife Pat all of Ardmore;sister in law, Donna Hawkins of Dayton, TX; 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Casket bearers T Lewis, James Stubbs, Doug Miller, Brock Gandy, Bobby Tolliver and Charlie Burks.

Honorary Bearers are Billy Roberts, Boyd Roberts, Danya Miller, Holden Roberts, Gabriel Roberts, Cayden Roberts and Jacob Stubbs.

Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
