Vera Mae Norton

Wilson - Memorial Services for Mrs. Vera Mae Bell Norton, 73, of Wilson are scheduled for 11:00am Wed. Dec. 23, 2015 at the Wilson Assembly of God Church with Bro. Michael Tom officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson

Vera was born Nov. 23, 1942 at Lequire, OK to the late Mr. Erven Levi Bray and Mrs. Linda Maedean (Floyd) Bray. She departed this life Monday Dec. 21, 2015 at the Wilson Nursing Home.

Vera was raised in Oklahoma City and lived most of her life there. She was married to Lesley Don Bell, and to this union they were blessed with 4 children, Donna, Dwayne, Vickie and Valarie. Don preceded her in death on August of 2001. Shortly afterwards, Vera moved to Ardmore residing on her houseboat at Buzzards Roost at Lake Murray. Vera loved the water and the peacefulness of the Lake.

Vera later met Mr. Bob Norton at a Senior Citizens dance in Madill. They knew it was meant to be and were soon married about 6 months later on Dec. 23, 2009 at Ardmore. They made their home in Wilson where they've been active at the Wilson Assembly of God Church. Vera enjoyed reading, drawing, painting and writing poetry. She also loved horses and was a great rider. In addition to her husband Don, also preceding her in death is her Parents, Erven and Linda Bray.

Survivors include her husband Bob of the home; children Donna Witt of Lone Grove, Dwayne Bell, Vickie Breshears, both of Oklahoma City and Valerie Thornton of Lakeland, FL; Brothers, Kenny Bray of Wilson and Joe Bray of Oklahoma City;grandchildren, Curtis, Bruce, Casey, Tyler, Devin, Tiffani and Skye; great grandchildren, Hollea, Taylor, Nathaniel, Brooklynn, Jordan, Jasmin and Trever; Bobs kids, Bobby Dawl, Holly Chronister, both of Noble and Dani Paige of Dallas, TX; Bobs, grandchildren, Amber and Rachel; numerous other family and friends.

Honorary bearers are Curtis and Bruce Witt.

A very special thanks to Wayne and Peggy Dowdy and Pastor Michael Tom for their support the last few months.
