Velda F. Finke

Funeral Services for Velda F. (Provence) Finke, 80 are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Bro. Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will follow to Petersburg Cemetery near Ringling. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

Velda was born June 3, 1935 in Center Point to the late Robert Arthur "R.A." Provence and Oda Lela (Stewart) Provence. She departed from this life on February 26, 2016 in Ringling.

Velda was raised in Ringling, graduating high school in 1953. She married Mr. William Carl Finke on February 20, 1954 at Denison, TX. To this union, they were blessed with 3 children, Carla, Charles and Brian. Velda was a teacher for 30 years. She was a media specialist for MacArthur High School.and she held a Masters Degree in Education. After retiring, she was quite the cattle rancher with her husband assisting in introducing the Limousine breed to Jefferson County. Velda also raised Pugs very sucessfully, well enough to compete financially with her cattle. She was an excellent seamstress and made excellent quilts. Velda never met a stranger and was always on the move. She was a very hard worker, helping with all community projects and fundraising.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Velda is survived by her husband Mr. William Carl "Bill" Finke of the home, daughter Dr. Carla Michaels of Dallas, sons Charles Finke and wife Sharon of Fink, TX and Brian Finke of Petersburg, grandchildren April and husband Jeremy Curtis, Carlyn and Robert and his fiancee Lilly, three step grandchildren Justin, Matthew and Wess, great grandchild Claire Curtis and numerous of other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Justin Wiesen, Matthew Wiesen, Johnny Hartman, Kevin Lewis, Glen Mitchell and Cody Rose.

Family visitation will be held Monday, February 26, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.
