Healdton - Graveside Services for Mrs. Vaughn D. (Spurgin) Pickelsimer, 85 of Mountain View, OK are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. Carl Taylor officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
Vaughn was born on October 3, 1933 to the late Mr. William Felix Spurgin and Mrs. Alice Opal (Jonas) Spurgin at her home in Stephens County. She departed from this life on Friday, September 13, 2019 in Hobart, OK.
Vaughan was raised in the Caddo and Velma Alma area attending school at Velma. She graduated from Velma Alma High School in 1951. Vaughn attended College at the Women's College of Chickasha, where she graduated in 1953 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Education . Soon after, she began teaching at Billings, OK High School teaching business classes. Vaughn married the late Mr. Merlin Homer Pickelsimer on May 29, 1956 at Washita, KS. To this union, they were blessed with two children, Carla and Mitchell, together they made their home in Fox. Vaughn taught two years at Velma before staying at home as a devoted homemaker. Merlin preceded her in death on July 31, 1961. She never remarried and continued to live in Fox as a great mother to her children. Vaughn eventually starting working after her children were raised at Hagger. She enjoyed raising cattle and most of all being with her children and grandchildren. Vaughn was a long time member of Fox Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Carl Spurgin and a grandson Daniel Kliewer,
Vaughn is survived by her daughter, Carla Kliewer and husband Matt of Mountain View, OK; son, Mitchell Pickelsimer and wife Laura of Fox; sister, Jesse Faye Pickelsimer of Fox; 7 grandchildren, Michael Pickelsimer and wife Coralie, Brittany Pickelsimer, James Kliewer and wife Aimee, Travis Kliewer, Peter Kliewer, Nathaniel Kliewer and Benjamin Kliewer; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that she thought the world of.
