Tommy "Doyle" Davis

Wilson - Private Family Memorial Services are scheduled for a later date, for Mr. Tommy "Doyle" Davis, 85, of Wilson. He passed away Thursday January 19, 2017 at his home. Arrangement are under the care of Alexander Funeral Home and Crematory of Wilson.


Doyle was born Dec. 16, 1931 at Wilson to the late Mr. John Wesley Davis and Mrs. Tennie F. (Baker) Davis. He was raised at Wilson graduating from Wilson High School in 1950. During his years at Wilson he enjoyed playing football and running track. Doyle was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a clerk. He received his honorable discharge in 1957. He married the former Ms. Marilyn "Edie" Ricks on April 3, 1965 at Dallas, TX.

Doyle earned his Bachelors degree in Chemistry and furthered his education receiving a Masters in School Administration from the Oklahoma State University. He and Edie followed his employment at several states before settling at Mesquite, TX where Doyle worked for the Dallas Independent School District. There he was employed as an Educator and Coach for 25 years retiring in 1991. They moved to Wilson in 2003 to enjoy their retirement years. Doyle loved to go hunting and fishing and to spend valuable time with his family.


Preceding him in death were his Parents; daughter, Amy (Davis) McKinney - April 22, 2008; sister- Sis Turner and her husband Jim; brother, Gilbert " Bub" Davis and his wife Bettie; brother in law, Bo Ward; sister in law, ILine Davis; parents in law, Vance and Louretta Ricks; brother in law, Don Ricks and sister in law, Pat Bryant;


Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Mrs. Marilyn Edie Davis of the home; daughter Lori Ledbetter and husband Les of Ardmore; special son in law, Eddie L. McKinney of Lawton; granddaughters, Lindsey Kuhns and husband Nathaniel of Brownsboro, TX and Lauren Ledbetter of Ardmore; sister, Mrs. Be Ward and brother, Mr. Ray Davis, both of Wilson; nieces and nephews, Johnny Turner, Steve, Bruce, Susan and Scott Davis, Gordon, Deborah and Doyle Cameron Davis, Cary Sims, Joni Crabb, Jeff Bryant, Lee Walters III, Lynnette Mannion, Donnie and Jason Cole, and Layne and Rusty Ricks; sisters in law, Linda Walters and husband Lee and Carol Campbell and husband Earl and Ann Prestwood ; numerous other family and friends.
