Toby Ryan Copeland (Toby Rose)

Velma - Mr. Toby Ryan Copeland (Toby Rose), passed away on May 4, 2018 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 27 years, 7 months, and 12 days. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel in Velma.

Toby was born on September 22, 1990 in Duncan, OK to Mr. Steven Luke Copeland, Sr. and Mrs. Dora Ellen (Rose) Gustus.

Toby married Katherine Vaughn on August 7, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Duncan/Velma area.

Mr. Copeland had lived in the Southern Oklahoma area all of his life. He graduated from Velma High School with the Class of 2009. He had served a short time in the United States Marines. Toby enjoyed the outdoors especially in the mountains where he could hike and fish. He could always be found outside tinkering on a car or a lawn mower and making them go as fast as they could. Mr. Copeland loved anything that could go fast. Toby had a huge heart and could always be counted on to help others. He was very talented and could play almost any instrument.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Erwin “Skeet” Rose aka PaPa, Fred Gustus, Rita Irvin, Ellery Irvin, Alice Jane Dunn, and Calvin Luke Copeland.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Copeland of the home; parents, Dora Ellen and Fred “Tim” Gustus of Velma; biological father, Steven Luke Copeland Sr.; sisters, Jennifer Copeland of Oklahoma City, Danielle Gustus of Duncan, brothers, Jessie Rose Gray and husband Bryan of Duncan, and Steven Luke Copeland, Jr. of Duncan; step grandmother, Emma Jean Gustus of Velma; godfather, Larry Fenton of Velma; many extended brothers, sisters, other relatives and a host of friends.
