Wilson - Memorial Services for Mrs. Thwanna Yvonne (Lindsey) Vandver , 84, of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday May 29, 2020 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Bill Black officiating. Inurnment will follow at Bomar Point Cemetery in Wilson.
Mrs. Vandver was born on July 9, 1935 at Dougherty, OK. Her parents were Mr. Lee Blackwell and Mrs. Estelle (Lindsey) Blackwell. She departed from this life on Saturday May 23, 2020 at a healthcare facility in Ardmore.
Mrs. Vandver was raised in Dougherty attending school there. She met the love of her life and soon after married the late Mr. Paul Edward Vandver on October 2, 1958 at Gainesville, TX. Paul was in the military which led them to several different places of residence throughout their years. After they married they resided at San Diego, CA then Norfolk, VA, to Newport, RI, , then to Jacksonville, FL and lastly at Long Island, NY before moving to Wilson in 1972.
Mrs. Vandver stayed very busy within her home but worked outside mostly as a cook. She was employed for a number of years for the Wilson Nursing Home and other establishments of the area as a cook. When she was not in the kitchen , she loved to watch wrestling. She also enjoyed sewing and collecting numerous nic nacs.
Preceding her in death was her parents;; daughter, Paula Darlene Vandver ; son, Ronald Jay Vandver and her husband Paul on March 23, 2008.
Survivors include her daughters, Marcieina Cormany and husband Ron of Wilson and Leuvada Vandver of Ardmore; sister, Barbara Jane Brooks and husband Del of Tipton; grandchildren, R.J. Vandver and wife Mindy, Jolisa Ellison, Arlo Kimes and wife Mandy and Aaron Vandver and wife Monica; 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild and another one on the way; numerous other family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers are R.J. Vandver, Arlo Kimes, Aaron Vandver, Ron Cormany, John Flynn, Jeremy Brundage, Jerry Ellison, Jr., Johnny Vandver, Korbin Ingram, Joshua Vandver, Justin Vandver and Jay Paul Vandver.
