Thurman D. Harris

Mr. Thurman D. Harris, of Sulphur, departed this life on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at his residence in Sulphur at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 9 days. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Crossway First Baptist Church of Sulphur with interment following at 1:00 P.M. at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating. Funeral Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

Thurman was born on May 15, 1937 in Atwood, OK to the late Mr. Burchfield "Buck" Harris and Mrs. Gladys Merle (Brown) Harris.

He was raised around Seminole as one of seven children. They were a farming family and lived in Arkansas for some-while. Thurman began working outside the home at the age of 14 on a ranch. He began working in the oilfield at the age of 19 and then at 20 worked for Bradley Oil Co. which later became MapCo and then CNG. He and the former Georgia Marie Seyfert married on December 20, 1957 at Seminole, OK. They moved from Seminole to Wilson, following work and raised their children here. Thurman retired from CNG in 1995, and they enjoyed having a lake house at Little Glasses. Thurman also helped with Boy Scouts, always helping with everything. He was a past VFW member of Wilson. He and Georgia, had moved to Sulphur in 1983 and had resided there since. He was very instrumental in the Crossway First Baptist Church and was always willing to help. He loved to fish and enjoyed his friends and family. Thurman and all of his family was baptized on April 11, 1971 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson.

Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his parents;siblings, Athel, Edith, Orthel "Archie", Nina Faye and Ruby and a nephew Ray.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Marie (Seyfert) Harris of the home; sons, Rev. Ronnie Harris and wife Debbie of Claremore and Stan Harris and wife Anna Mae of Wilson; daughter, Debbie Graham and husband Rod of Wilson; brother, Willie Harris and wife Camilla of Seminole; grandchildren, Rebecca Harris, Anthony Harris, Patti Dunsworth and Jody, Stanley Harris and Molly, Sara Lee and Steve, Bradley Wise and Ashley, Travis Wise and Natalie, Natasha Garrison and Billy, Lindsey Ball and Daniel, and Rodney Graham and Hannah; 28 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Grandsons will be serving as casket bearers.
