Thomas Monroe Culwell

Simon – Gravesides Services for Mr. Thomas Monroe “Sonny” Culwell, 78, of Simon is scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, May 10, 2013 at Simon Cemetery with Rev. Joshua Gunter officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Sonny was born July 2, 1934 at Simon, OK to the late Mr. Thomas Marion “Curly” Culwell, Jr. and Mrs. Altha Nora (Sexton) Culwell. He departed this life Friday May 3, 2013 at his farm in Simon.

Sonny attended school initially at Simon and later graduated high school at Meadowbrook. He and the former Ms. Joyce Romines were united in marriage on March 21, 1953 at Wilson. They made their home in Simon residing on the farm.

Sonny was a quiet but loving man who worked all of his life. He was a taxi driver, surveyor, truck driver, machinist, bus driver, security guard and rancher. His hobbies were working on old cars and reading airplane magazines. Joyce preceded him in death on January 19, 2009.

Also preceding him in death were his Parents, Mr. Curly Culwell and Mrs. Altha (Sexton) Culwell.

Survivors include Daughters, Janette Carlile and husband Aaron of Overbrook and Cheryl Culwell of Davis; Granddaughters Brandi Carlile of Oklahoma City and Lori Mai and husband Wayne of Overbrook; Great Granddaughters, Kaylyn Barbour and Tyler Mai; Special Friend Sandra Welch of Ardmore and many other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Danny Gray, Jimmy Morgan, Finley Morgan, Pete Carlile, Terry Hix, Jerry Hix, Steven Carroll and James Williams.
