With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mrs. Theresa "Gay" Segler, who departed this life in the comfort of home on December 27, 2024. She was born on November 11, 1950, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late U.T. Walters and Lois (Hale) Walters Bass.
Gay's story began in the vibrant community of Ardmore, where she grew up and laid the foundations of a life filled with love and connection. A proud graduate of Plainview Schools in 1969, she embarked on a journey that would forever intertwine her fate with that of her beloved husband, Kerry Don Segler. They exchanged vows in November 1975 at the First Baptist Church in Lone Grove, marking the start of a beautiful partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering support.
For over 25 years, Gay dedicated herself to her work as a bookkeeper for BL Owens and later for Don's Truck Repair Business. Her professionalism was only rivaled by her commitment to her community; she was a treasured member of Cheek Baptist Church, actively participating in the life of the church and contributing to the joy of Vacation Bible School.
Gay's warmth and vivacity shone brightly, touching the lives of many. She was a loving mother to her sons, Geoffrey Segler and his wife Christina, and Timothy Segler and his wife Kayla, and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren—Geoffrey K, Colton, Sadey, Kaylie, Gerald, Jeremiah, Willow, Autumn, Justin, and Samuel; nieces, Cherri Hartman, and Melinda Clark; nephews, James Clark and Tommy Walters. Her home was a refuge filled with laughter, lessons, and love, where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her dear brothers, Ron, Greg, and Don Walters. The legacy of her kindness and spirit will carry on through her devoted husband, Kerry Don, and the many lives she touched.
Pallbearers will be Richard Markum, Ben Woods, Colton Segler, Geoffrey Segler, Zack Chatham, and Gerald Segler.
Honorary Bearers are Dee Harbeson, Sammy Roe, and Marvin Conway.
As we gather to honor Gay's life, her memory will forever remain vibrant in our hearts. Funeral services will take place at Cheek Baptist Church on January 3, 2025, at 10:00 A.M., with Rev. Darryl Howard presiding. Interment will follow in Cheek Cemetery, where she will rest.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson, allowing friends and loved ones to share in the memories of a remarkable woman.

Though she has left this earthly realm, the love and light of Theresa "Gay" Segler will continue to shine brightly, reminding all of us to live life with the same grace and passion she so effortlessly embodied.
