Thelma “Nig” Lee Lawson
Marietta-Graveside Services for Mrs. Thelma “Nig” Lee (Isbell) Lawson, 89, of Rubottom are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, with Zane Gray officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Nig was born on November 10, 1925 to the late Mr. Homer Clifton Isbell and Mrs. Willie “Bill” (Norvell) Isbell. She departed this life on Wednesday evening, June 24, 2015, at Marietta.
Nig and her family moved to Courtney not long after she was born. She attended school at Courtney. After graduating, she attended Beauty College in Ardmore. Nig married Mr. O.F. “Orby” Lawson on September 7, 1940 at Wilson. She worked as a beautician out of her home until 1971 and she was always a devoted homemaker. Nig loved bowling, participating in a League for many years. She loved being on the go, traveling, and going to the casino.
Preceding her in death is her Parents; husband, “Orby” Lawson on April 18, 2007; Sister, Maidee Hooker; and late dear friend, Ray Hicks.
She is survived by her two daughters, Freida Hartman and husband Bill of Wilson, Vicki Embry and husband Jim Moore of Marietta; granddaughter, Tori Embry Zinno and husband Mike of Yukon; nephew, A.C. “Tex” Hooker of Ardmore; adopted grandson, Manuel Escobedo of Marietta; numerous other family and a multitude of friends.
Honorary Bearers are A.C. Hooker, Lee Hooker, Luke Hooker, Jacob Hooker, Dan Corr, John Barringer, Leroy Johnson, Tony Hicks, Robin Hicks, Randy Hicks, Lyndal Hicks, Jerry Johnson, and Keith Isbell.
Family visitation will be held Friday evening, June 26, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
