Services for Sue Ellen Grissom, 77, of Wilson, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Reck cemetery in Wilson.
Sue was born April 19, 1947, at Lindsay, OK to the late Mr. Noble “Son” Lytle and Mrs. Faye (Roberts) Lytle. She departed this life Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Wilson.
Sue was raised in Chandler, Arizona but completed her education at Wilson Public Schools, where she laid the foundations for her adventurous and caring nature. In December of 1963, she married Merrell “Sonny” Grissom in Gainesville, Texas, embarking on a remarkable shared life that would take them across various states including Texas, North Dakota, and Missouri, before ultimately returning to their roots in Wilson. Throughout her career, Sue endeared herself to many by working at several local establishments, most notably the Dairy Lane in Wilson. Beyond her professional endeavors, Sue was an avid bowler, achieving recognition as part of the esteemed 300 club within her bowling league. She embraced life passionately, enjoying lively evenings spent dancing and shooting pool with Sonny. Sue’s legacy is also reflected in her commitment to community involvement, exemplified by her accolades as a Rainbow and Eastern Star. Above all, Sue cherished the moments spent with her family, creating lasting memories that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Sonny Grissom; parents; son, Tommy Wayne Grissom; Uncle and Aunt, Bill and Audie Dozier.
Survivors include her son, Jack Grissom and fiancé, Kelly Dally of Ringling; daughter, Lori Gordon and husband Joe of Wilson; sister, Darlene Gaines of Wilson; grandchildren, Sunny Bulla, JW Grissom, Makenzie Grissom, and Kourtney Lytle; great grandchildren, Vesper, Ronin, Scarlette, Memphis, Jaxon, Mason, and Sonny; many nieces, nephews, other family, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be JW Grissom, Brandon Bulla, Jimmy Taylor, Marty Taylor, Brent Taylor, and Scott Taylor.
Honorary bearers are Earl J Roberts, Audie Roberts, Larry Roberts, Chris Roberts, Kerry Roberts, and Donnie Gaines.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M., at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson.
