Lone Grove -Services for Steve “Bird” Price, 63, of Lone Grove are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 16, 2022, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Lone Grove with Bro. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Keller Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander-Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
Steve was born June 13, 1959, at Denver City, Texas to the late Jerry and Patsy (Goates) Price. He left this world Monday, September 12, 2022 with his wife by his side.
Steve was raised in Lone Grove where he graduated from Lone Grove High School in 1977. He married the love of his life and best friend Leslie King on December 7, 1988. They resided west of Lone Grove where they raised 3 wonderful children.
Steve started his own company BluArc Welding early in life, and proudly worked for Sweco Oil Company. He then went to work for Bob Smith construction and after a few years and was hired by Total Refinery where he made many, many friends who all became family. He retired from Valero in 2010. Steve was known for his sense of humor, 4th of July and skeet shoot parties, and ability to complete just about any task at hand. There wasn’t many trades throughout his life he hadn’t mastered from carpentry to welding and everything in between. He did not go many days without having a phone call from one of his kids or sons in law for help. In his younger days he loved spending time riding horses and going to play days with his sister Lisa, and their neighbors Donny and John Miller. He was a free spirit and never met a stranger. He was a wonderful father, husband, friend and even better Grandad. Listening to everyone sit around in the kitchen tell stories, laugh, and watching his grandkids play were some of his favorite times. Steve and his wife Leslie enjoyed every day together checking cows, farming, and riding the backroads with their dog Bentley. Early in life Steve was baptized at First Baptist Church.
