Stanley Russell Means

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Stanley Russell Means, 68, of Zaneis is scheduled for 2: oo PM Monday June 13, 2011 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Sid Bazzrea officiating. Interment will follow at Cornish Cemetery in Ringling with United States Army burial rites. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Stanley was born May 4, 1943 at Porterville, CA to the late Mr. Henry Harold Means and Mrs. Mozelle (Kinman) Means. He departed this life Friday morning June 10, 2011 at Healdton, OK.

Stanley was reared in California graduating high school at Ventura. He joined the United States Army October 19, 1966 at Ventura, Ca. He served honorably during the Vietnam War as a expert Machine gunner and Marksman and received several decorations including two overseas bars and a combat infantryman’s badge. He was honorably discharged after 2 years of service on October 18, 1968 at Ft. Riley, KS.

Returning to the states he was employed initially at Cornish Ford in Healdton in the service division. He continued to work at auto dealerships being the service manager at Love County Ford and then Carlyle Chevrolet, both in Marietta, for a number of years just retiring recently from Clay Cooley dealership of Marietta in 2009.

He and the former Ms. Susan Smith were united in marriage on October 21, 1981 at Healdton. They resided in the Healdton and Zaneis area most of their years together. Stanley loved spending time with his family and enjoyed collecting old antique fishing lures. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed reading extensively. He was presently employed with the Chickasaw Nation at the Wilson Gaming Center as a clerk and was of the Baptist Faith.

Preceding him in death is his Parents, Brother in Law -Steve Hankins, Sister In law – Joyclyn Qualls and nephew – Ricky Qualls.

Survivors include his loving wife Susan of the home in Zaneis; Sons, Casey Means also of the home and Justin Means and wife Randi of Richardson, TX; Daughters, Samantha Speer and husband Shane of Melissa, TX, Vanessa McNeil and husband Brett of Ardmore, and Stephanie Thompson-Kennedy of Norman; Siblings, Mudd Means and wife Molly of Gene Autry, Sandi Striegel of South Paris, ME, Huck Means and wife Cathy of Zaneis and Steve Hughes and wife Veronica of Ringling; Seven Grandchildren; Sister in Law, Beth Hankins of Lawton; Brothers in law, Jim Smith of Grapevine, TX and Kenneth Qualls of Purcell; Numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Anthony Woods, Chris Mayfield, Arthur “Taco” Fraire, Mike Street, Brad Goodall and Ryan Wilson.

Honorary Bearers are Nathan White and all of Stanley’s nephews.

Family visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 5-7pm at the funeral home in Wilson.
