Just as the sun peeked over the horizon, surrounded by her family, Shytana Lea (Johnston) Bray, received her ultimate healing by her Savior and Lord on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Shytana fiercely and bravely battled a brain tumor, not once, but twice, in her life. She defeated the tumor and victoriously won!
Shytana was born on May 8, 1991 at Ardmore, OK to Jerry "Mike" and Shelly Lea (Tivis) Johnston. Shytana was a joy to all who met and knew her. Her very first best friend was her big sister, Tanya Sue, and they made so many happy memories together growing up. Shytana was raised in a loving home and made her commitment to accept the Lord as her Savior at six years old and was a faithful follower of Christ. Shytana was active in FFA and enjoyed showing steers at the local, county and state level. She attended Fox Public Schools from pre-k through high school and graduated with the class of 2010. The Lord hand picked a special guy to become her loving and devoted husband, Mr. Steven Bray of Graham, OK. Steven and Shytana were married on April 8, 2011 at Milo Baptist Church. Shytana was well known for baking tasty treats for special friends, families and workers at Dale's Tank Truck Service. Shytana was a member of the Milo Baptist Church and with a servant's heart, she taught the Preschool and Kindergarten Sunday School class. Her little students loved her dearly. She had the honor of helping take care of her nephews, Braden and Brecken on many occasions and was thrilled to spoil and love on them. On August 5, 2015 the Lord blessed her in fulfilling her dream of becoming a Mother with the precious arrival of their baby boy, Cooper Keith Bray. Shytana was a wonderful mother to Cooper and recently was able to celebrate his 1st birthday as she watched him open presents and eat his cake!
Those who preceded Shytana in death and were among the welcoming committee in Heaven were: her grandparents, Jerry and Sue Johnston; great grandparents, Buddy and Atlina Fuller, Trig and Jessie Tivis, Richard and Cutchie Johnston and Omer and Celestine Rowe.
Survivors include her husband, Steven Bray and son, Cooper of the home; parents, Mike and Shelly Johnston of Ratliff City; sister, Tanya Stark and husband, John of Ratliff City; nephews, Braden and Brecken Stark; Grandparents, Dale and Linda Tivis of Ratliff City; Uncle, Cary Dale Tivis and family, special cousin, Hillary Tivis; Uncle John Johnston and family, Aunt Teresa Johnston, Aunt Peggy Johnston and family; numerous other family, church family and friends.
