Healdton - Funeral services for Mr. Sherman "Anthony" Ganaway, age 53, of Healdton, will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Assembly of God Church in Healdton. Bro. Quenton Newton will officiate, with Pastor Joe Jackson assisting. Following the service, interment will take place at Mount Olive Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
Anthony was born on August 31, 1971, in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Mr. Sherman Ray Ganaway and Mrs. Francys Arthenia (Lewis) Ganaway. He passed away on January 13, 2025, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Raised in Pasadena, California, after his father's military retirement, Anthony loved Hawaii and returned to Oklahoma to complete his senior year, graduating from Mangum High School in 1989. He continued his education at Western Oklahoma State College, where he played basketball, later attending Cameron University to study business. Upon his father's passing, Anthony returned to Pasadena to support his mother.
On September 7, 2012, Anthony married Danielle Ripley in Gainesville, Texas, having shared their lives together since 2003. The couple became residents of Healdton, where they raised their two sons. Since 2016, Anthony contributed his skills to the Carter County District II.
A dedicated sports enthusiast, Anthony was a passionate fan of the Los Angeles Lakers and enjoyed weightlifting, barbecuing, caring for his dogs, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a stillborn son, Sherman Anthony "Trey" Ganaway, Jr., and his niece and nephews, Danyelle Ganaway, Trenton Walker, Daylon Pounds, and Brianna Studeman.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Danielle, of the home; his sons, Joshua Norton and Tyler Norton; his sister, LaKesha’ Ganaway of Phoenix; his nephew, Da Vaughn Henson of Phoenix; as well as numerous cousins who were like siblings to him, and his aunts, Carolyn Ganaway and Pat Hurd of Hobart. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Pallbearers will include Jeff Hurd, Geremy Ganaway, Ralph Davis, Scotty Ganaway, Mark Ganaway, Tyler Norton, Robert Hendrick, and Ethan Michael Andrews. Honorary bearers are Tyler Ganaway, Ty Hurd, Jeffrey Hurd, Jonathan Gaither, Alan Gaither, Da Vaughn Henson, Thomas McMurray III, Delbert Norton, and all District II Carter County employees.
Visitation for pallbearers will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Healdton.
