Graham – Funeral Services for Dr. Sheila Marie (Dean) Williams, PHD, 77, of Graham are scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Rev. Mike Johnston and Rev. Paul Dean Martin officiating. Interment will follow at the Graham Cemetery next to her late husband Billy.
Sheila was born at Seminole on Nov. 20, 1940 to the late Mr. George Harold Dean and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Parker) Dean. She departed this life Monday, October 8, 2018 at Oklahoma City.
Sheila was raised at Seminole moving to this area when she was in high school. She made co-valedictorian at Rexroat High School graduating in 1958. Sheila initially married Bobby Hair and to this union they were blessed with a daughter Becky. Later in life , Sheila married Billy Charles William on August 14, 1969 at Gainesville, TX. They mostly resided at Graham.
Sheila received her college education after her daughter Becky graduated high school. She earned eight masters degrees from the University of Oklahoma and later received her PHD in Liberal Studies from Berkley. She always said the most difficult class she took was “Japanese Floral Design”.
Sheila was a member of the Mensa Society and also was a published author. She had been employed most recently for the U.S. Dept. of Commerce providing statistics for the Census Bureau. Sheila was one to always eat her dessert first and forever lived her life to its fullest. She was a longtime member of the Oil City Union Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Danielle Sellers- 2009, sister, Beverly Roper – 2012 and husband Billy – 2014.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky Hair and Georgia Stansberry of Ardmore; granddaughter, Mary Beth Owens and great granddaughter, Haley Owens of Dickson; sisters, Phyllis Heirston and husband Forrest Lee of Oil City; brother, Tony Dean and wife Lois of Ardmore; numerous nieces and nephews and other family.
Casket Bearers will be Michael Heirston, Kenny Spigner, Dennis Hamilton, Keith Dean, Micah Russell and Derrek Sellers.
Honorary Bearers are the Men of the Oil City Union Church.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson.
