Ruth Lanell Tynes

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruth Lanell (Adams) Tynes, 86, are scheduled for 1:00 PM Friday, September 10, 2010 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Chaplain Scott Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Ruth was born January 23, 1924 at Keifer, Ok to the late Elbert Cleo “Red” Adams and Gustava (Thompson) Adams. She departed this life Tuesday September 7, 2010 at her residence at Ardmore.

Ruth was raised in Wilson. When Ruth was 4 years old her mother Gustava passed away on March 3, 1928 and her father remarried Ms. Tressie Vaughan whom raised Ruth like her own. Ruth graduated from Wilson High School in 1942 as the valedictorian of her class. She married John Clifford Tynes January 23, 1944 at Wilson. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1963. Ruth worked as a dietician for OSU and SMU colleges, retiring some 30 years ago. She lived for a while after she retired at Lake Tawakoni, TX and had resided at Ardmore for the last 12 years. She was a member of the Southwest Baptist Church of Ardmore.

Also preceding her in death is her Father, Cleo, 1/18/1960, 2nd Mother, Tressie, 6/22/1969, and 5 bros. Vernon, Virgil, E.C., Wayne, and Anthony.

Survivors include Daughter, Virginia Maness of Eldorado, TX. 4 Sons, Clifford Leroy Tynes and wife Selma of Pelican Bay, TX, James Earl Tynes and wife Sandy of Oklahoma City, Ray “Bo” Tynes and wife Jennifer of Zaneis and Buddy Tynes of Madill. 2 Sisters, Ora May Samples of Quinlan, TX, and Nellie Brodner and husband Bob of Dallas, TX. Sister in law, whom was like her own sister, Barbara Tynes of Ardmore. 12 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eric Regan, Bert Tynes, Derek Tynes, Bo Tynes, Jimmy Maness, and Bob Brodner.

Honorary Bearers will be Danny Ferguson, Kevin Ferguson, Sam Brodner, Robert Brodner, Kenneth Finch, Tim Finch, and Curt Finch.
