Russell "Chicken" Charles Lynch

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Russell Charles “Chicken” Lynch, 71, of Wilson are scheduled for 2: 00 P.M. Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Wilson Gymnasium with Pastor Waylon Dancer and Rev. Jason Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson.

Chicken was born August 4, 1943 at Ardmore to the late Mr. Russell Edward “Storky” Lynch and Mrs. Daphine F. (Tipps) Lynch. He departed this life Thursday March 19, 2015 at Healdton.

Chicken, a name given to him by one of his best friends, Ron Alexander, was raised in Wilson living with his grandmother, Mrs. Ada Lynch. He attended school here and was an excellent basketball player graduating high school in 1961. He married the former Roberta Wright on June 11, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church of Wilson. Chicken worked at the Oklahoma Dept. of Transportation for 36 years retiring as supervisor in 1999. He always loved sports and refereed high school basketball games all over Carter County. He also enjoyed coaching little league baseball teams for Wilson.

Chicken had a heart of gold always giving to the less fortunate. He had a passion for gardening and loved the Town of Wilson and the Wilson Eagles. He felt privileged to serve as Wilson City Councilman, currently representing Ward 1. Chicken was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his Parents, Grandmother whom raised him Mrs. Ada Lynch and Sister Judy Underwood.

Survivors include his wife Roberta of the home; son, Robert Lynch and wife Kim of Ardmore; granddaughter, Desiree Lynch of Houston; grandson, Jake Lynch of Ardmore; sister in law, Sandi and husband Ron Spinney of Tuttle; numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Frank Schaaf, Billy Wilkinson, Rodney Wharton, Pete Carlile, Chris Lance and Monte Newton.

Honorary bearers are Ronald Alexander, Gary Claxton, Dave Shores, Jimmy Roberts, all the members of the First United Methodist Church of Wilson, and the City of Wilson Officers, Clerks and Employees.

Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 235 Wilson, OK 73463.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Saturday evening at the Wilson Funeral Home.
