Ratliff City - Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruby Ola (Terrill) Simpson, 84, of Poolville is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Ratliff City Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Johnston and Rev. Glynn Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery of Marietta at 2:00 PM. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
Ruby was born on March 22, 1933 at Burneyville to the late Hershel "Jack" Allen Terrill and Laurada (Fincher) Terrill. She departed this life Sunday February 18, 2018 at her home in Poolville.
Ruby was raised in Burneyville moving to Marietta during her eighth grade year. There she met her lifelong sweetheart, Bill Simpson and they were later married on Jan. 1, 1952 at Shamrock, TX. Ruby was quite the basketball player when she was young and played within a Women's Professional league for 1 year.
Furthering their education they moved to Houston for a short while, where Ruby helped Bill get his accounting degree. They resided in Marietta, Duncan and even Montana before settling east of Ratliff City where they have remained.
They were blessed with two wonderful children, Mark and Deonna and Ruby adored them and all of her grandchildren as well. She was always the glue that held the family together. Ruby owned and operated the Elmore's Karry Out and Dress Shop in Ratliff City for over 30 years. She always loved shopping and would do so even when she was unable to leave home and purchase items off the television. Bill and Ruby have been longtime members of the Ratliff City Baptist Church.
Preceding her are the parents; sisters, Quetha Stewart and Teresa Terrill and a brother, Lonnie Terrill.
Survivors include her loving companion and best friend, Bill Simpson of the home; daughter, Deonna Unell and husband Dr. Alan Unell of Dallas, TX; son Mark Simpson and wife Cindy of Ratliff City; grandchildren, Mariah Douthit and husband Devin, Jacklyn Kirk and husband Doug, Adam Ogle and wife Carrie, Jessica Simpson and Mikey Simpson; 5 great grandchildren; stepmother, Maxine Terrill of Marietta; half sister, Michelle Terrill Elmer and husband Aaron of Tishomingo; numerous other family and friends.
Casket bearers are Tommy Choate, Bill Thacker, Adam Ogle, Mikey Simpson, Jim Thompson and Devin Douthit.
Honorary bearer is her good friend Mrs. Vera Clour.
Family visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Wed. evening at Alexander Funeral Home of Ratliff City.
