Ruby Mae Cross

Loco - Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruby Mae (Whitener) Cross, 101, of Loco are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Loco First Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Case officiating. Interment will follow at Loco Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

Ruby was born Feb. 1, 1921 at Peggs, OK to the late Mr. Martin David Whitener and Mrs. Jennie (Clark) Whitener. She departed this life on Monday, July 4, 2022 at the Meridian Nursing Home.

Ruby was raised at Orr and Courtney Flatt. She married Mr. William Henry "Bill" Cross on Dec. 29, 1942 at Ringling. To this union, 12 children were born. Her 2nd child was born as a stillborn boy, which precedes her in death as well as her parents, husband, Bill Dec. 29, 1980, son, Jackie Cross and a daughter, Bertha Pennycuff.

Ruby had resided at Loco most of her years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading her bible, spending time with her grandchildren and coloring.

Also preceding her in death is her brothers, Tommy and Johnny Whitener; sisters, Rosie Locke and Alice Bailey; grandchildren, Ronnie Burton, Jackie Burns, Tina Straight, Jayme Garcia and Marty Pennycuff.

Survivors include children, Billie Mae Burns of Loco, David Cross and wife Bobbie of Oklahoma City, Katie Barringer of Harrah, Janie Cross of Duncan, James Cross of Loco, Francis Cross and Rosie Downey, both of Duncan, Bobby Cross of Loco and Patricia Snider and husband Jonathan of Velma; 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; numerous other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Grandsons and Grandsons in Law.

Honorary bearers are the members of the Loco Volunteer Fire Dept.

Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
