Roger was born November 3, 1958 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to the late Mr. Richard L. Watkins and Mrs. Linda Janette (Roberts) Watkins. He departed from this life on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 17 days.

Roger was raised in Fox and attended school there. He graduated high school in 1977. Roger married the former Kristie Camp, and they were blessed with two wonderful children. He worked at Uniroyal as an electrician for a few years before starting a career in the oil patch, working within the same field his entire career. Roger presently worked as a production foreman for Chaparral Energy, previously known as Gulf, Chevron, and Calumet. Roger was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved to camp. He trained his own dogs for hunting and was the sole reason for the quail shortage in Carter County. He was an outdoorsman, and he enjoyed vacationing in Colorado. Roger was very fond of his two very special fishing buddies, Blake and Jace, who were at the top of his list. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Healdton where he served as youth director from 2002-2008.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Lynsie Watkins of Norman; son, John Watkins and wife Tara of Healdton; brother, Richard Watkins and wife Sherry of Elk City; grandchildren, Blake and Jace Watkins; and longtime girlfriend, Kim Glenn of Healdton.

Pallbearers will be John Watkins, Lynsie Watkins, Richard Watkins, Brad Watkins, Greg Brooks, Larry Fore, Larry Milson and Terry Turner. Honorary bearers will be Chaparral Energy Co-Workers, Derren Bray, Rob Tidwell, Mike Harmon and David Harmon.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
