Roger Carl Olson

Ratliff City - No Services are scheduled at this time for Mr. Roger "Sonny" Carl Olson, 76, of Ratliff City. Services are under the care of Alexander Gray Crematory.

Sonny was born on Jan. 8, 1940 at Lisbon, ND to the late Mr. Kenneth Cecil Olson and Mrs. Mildred Margaret (Mohrman) Olson. He departed this life Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his home in Ratliff City.

Sonny was raised at Eugene, Oregon attending and graduating high school at South Eugene. He then signed a three year contract with the Chicago Cubs and played major league baseball as a short stop. Following an injury to his shoulder, Sonny had to leave the life of baseball and soon began a life long career in sales. He first sold Mack Truck and parts and then later sold other industrial parts. Sonny married the former, Ms. Betty Lou Thompson on July 25, 1975 at Golconda, CO. He was always was very quiet and loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who provided a great deal of food for his family.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; and brother, Myron "Todd" Olson.

Survivors include his wife Betty L. Olson of the home; 4 children, Tammy, Karen, Elion "Scottie", and Heather; stepchildren, Jennifer and Jim Bill; 9 grandchildren; siblings, Elaine, Dennis and Carl; numerous nieces and nephews.
