Rodney Wayne Chaney

Lone Grove - Mr. Rodney "Rod" Wayne Chaney, aged 64, of Wilson, passed away on November 27, 2024 at his home. Rod was born on November 21, 1960, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to the late Lon Chaney and Patricia (Patrick) Chaney.

Rod grew up in Ardmore and married Linda Jo Silvers on December 2, 1980, at Stobtown Freewill Baptist Church in Lone Grove. He dedicated 15 years to the Ardmore Fire Department before transitioning to United Rentals as a truck driver, from which he retired in 2017. After retiring, Rod and Linda moved to North Carolina, where he found great joy in trout fishing. He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, hunting, and cherishing time spent with family.

Rod is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Randy, Richard, Rickey, and Kesha Chaney, and a great granddaughter, Kimber Chaney.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda; two sons, Josh Chaney and wife Jenny of Healdton, and Jacob Chaney and wife Stephanie of Wilson; grandchildren Jenna Martin, Jace Chaney and wife Rylee, Jaspur Chaney, Jenni Chaney, Rowdy Palmer, and Grady Palmer; a great granddaughter, Blakely Chaney, with another grandchild on the way; siblings John Bennett, Michael Bennett, and Steven Bennett; brother-in-law Toby Silvers and wife Samantha; and nephews Keith Silvers, Kyle Silvers, and Josh Studeman.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church, with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jacob Chaney, Jace Chaney, Toby Silvers, Mike Bennett, Rowdy Palmer, and Grady Palmer, with John Bennett and Steven Bennett serving as honorary bearers.

A time for family to gather to visit will take place on Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
