Robert Lee Griffin

Fox – Funeral Services for Mr. Robert ‘Bob” L. Griffin, 80, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Fox Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Tolbert and son, Rev. Jamie Griffin officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Robert was born February 9, 1931 at Fox to the late Mr. Magnus Leroy Griffin and Mrs. Ruby Mae (Shrader) Griffin. He departed this life Friday morning, April 22, 2011 at Ardmore.

Bob was raised in the Fox and Graham area attending school at Fox and Healdton. He married the former Marie Cloughly, and to this union came two children, Yvonne and Nolan “Bobby”. He later remarried the former Daloras McCauley and they had four children, Vickie, Kathie, Jamie and Robbie.

Robert worked in the oilfields and ranched all of his working years. He managed Dixon Ranch from 1974 to 1978 and had lastly worked in the oilfield for Westheimer Neustadt as a pumper. His two favorite people to spend time with in his working days were T.A. Burton and Chester Dixon.

He retired from Westheimer Neustadt, which is now Kaiser Francis, in 1996. In his retirement, he continued to work as a contract pumper, a rancher and cut firewood. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and was a member of the Fox Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; Brothers, W.B. “Dub” Griffin, T.J. “Jay” Griffin and Roland Griffin.

Survivors include Children; Yvonne Sisson of Bethany; Nolan Albrightson and wife Penny of El Reno, OK; Vickie Gaither of Wilson; Kathie Wood and husband Terry of Richmond, TX; Rev. Jamie Griffin and wife Reona of Fox; and Robbie Griffin and wife Clydie of Healdton. Siblings; Kenneth Griffin and wife Joyce of Fox; Dennie Griffin and wife Alice of Ardmore; and Shirley Ponder of Portland, Oregon. 14 Grandchildren; Andrea Brock and husband Josh, Amy Wood, Hollie Gunter and husband Erron, April Gaither, Courtney Albrightson and wife Cindy, Bobby Albrightson and wife Amy, Brandon Albrightson and wife Angela, Ashley, Tabetha Gardner and husband Aaron, Josh Griffin, Kyla Jones and husband Jon, Ramie Dickinson and husband Matt, Dwauna Burk and Keith Burk. 8 Great Grandchildren; Brittni, Ariana, Connor, Hunter, Griffin Kenneth Albrightson (His Papa’s Namesake) , Jackson, Matiney, and “Little Man Gardner” who is due to arrive in July. Numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be W.O. Chapman, Billy Wilkerson, Courtney Albrightson, Bobby Albrightson, Brandon Albrightson, Josh Griffin, Jerry Anderson, and Toby Silvers.

The family would like to thank all the Nurses and Staff of the Wilson Nursing Center for their kind felt care and support, during Roberts’s stay there.

Family visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home in Wilson.
