Velma – Funeral Services for Mrs. Rita Gale Brewer, 80 of Duncan, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 10, 2023 at the New Velma Cemetery with Rev. Kerry Glasgow officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
Rita was born July 1, 1942 in Arvin, CA to the late Mr. William Burt McNatt and Mrs. Hazel Edith (Ford) Tootle. She departed from this life on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 in a local nursing facility.
Rita was raised in California until graduating from high school following the love of her life, Jerry Brewer to Oklahoma. They married on October 28, 1960 in California. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1987. Rita was a beautician working in Rennie Sanners dress shop where she had a beauty shop. Later, she moved into her own. Rita enjoyed going to all her kids school activities, sewing even making most of all her kid’s clothes. She enjoyed keeping track of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved going to their rodeos.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Jerry; infant daughter, Lona Kay in 1962; son, Crafton “Scooter” Brewer on Feb. 24, 2018; siblings, Gareth McNatt, JB McNatt, Lucille Hunt; and Charlie Tootle.
Rita is survived by her daughter, Leisa Hall and husband Bret of Ratliff City; grandchildren, Brad Hall of Brookings, OR, Erin Johnston and husband Cody of Velma, and Jeana Hall of Velma; great grandchildren, Landon, Hannah and Rylee Hall and Corbin and Austin Johnson; sisters, Glenda Shackleford of Eufaula, Shirley Cox of Warner, and Norma Jean Burgermaster of Bakersfield, CA; and by a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
