Richard Lee Kohler

November 26, 1946 — July 8, 2016

Wilson, OK- Memorial Services for Mr. Richard Lee Kohler, 69, Aircraft Mechanic of Greenville, TX, are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Wilson with Bro. Brian Baker and Rev. Mark Fuller officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Crematory of Ringling.


Richard was born November 26, 1946 in Duncan to Earl Jay “Chuck” Kohler and Cora Lee “O’Dor” Kohler. However, Richard was raised by his step-dad Garmon Keith “Bud” Giddens. Richard departed this life Friday, July 8, 2016 in Greenville, TX.


Richard grew up in the country 3 miles SE of Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School in 1966. Richard always said the best times of his life were while living in the country and attending school in Wilson.


Upon graduation Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army and was almost immediately sent to a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was a Sgt. E-5 and was in the U.S. Army from July 1966 until April 1969. Upon his discharge he worked both at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma and L-3 in Greenville, Texas. He was an aircraft mechanic.


Richard’s favorite things in life were to play pool and ride his Harley-Davidson. He also liked a hot fudge Sunday every once in awhile.


Richard would like Rickey “Stretch” Henderson, Jay Jackson, and the Wilson Class of 1966 to be the Honorary Pallbearers. Richard’s favorite hymns were “Knockin on Heaven’s Door” and “All We Are Is Dust In the Wind”.


Richard was baptized as a youth at the First Baptist Church in Wilson, OK. He is survived by his son’s Chad and Chuck. His former wife, and dear friend, Cecilia France. His sister Judith Lucas, and his brother James Bramlett. He was preceded in death by his mother Cora Lee Giddens, his step-dad Bud Giddens, and his younger brother Michael Giddens.
