Velma - Mr. Richard Conard Harrell, Jr. departed this life on July 27, 2021 at his residence in Velma at the age of 86 years. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Velma Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Childers and Rev. Kerry Glasgow officiating. Interment to follow at the New Velma Cemetery. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Velma.
Richard was born on November 8, 1934 in Oilton, OK to the late Mr. Richard Conard Harrell, Sr. and Mrs. Cletolee (Kelly) Harrell.
Mr. Harrell was raised in Drumright and attended school at Capital Hill in Oklahoma City, graduating with the Class of 1955. He married Annie Hill on December 3, 1954 in Oklahoma City, OK. They lived in Oklahoma City until 1966 moving to Pampa, TX. He worked in the oilfield all of his life with Skelly Oil, Getty Oil, Texaco and retired from Chevron Oil Company in the late 80's. He and Annie made their home in Velma in 1972 and have lived there ever since. He enjoyed playing golf, RAs and GAs within the church, fishing, going to the senior citizens playing dominos and cards. He served on several committees and boards throughout the community such as Velma Credit Union, Stephen County Rural Water Board, and was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Velma.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; son, Rick Harrell and a sister, Donna Kay Sanders.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Annie (Hill) Harrell of the home; son, Michael Harrell of Velma; brother, Gary Harrell of Converse, TX; sister, Patricia Pearce of Moore, OK; granddaughter, Jessie Robbins and husband Greg of Spring Hill, TN; uncle, Paul Rhodes of Tulsa; and by a host of other family and friends.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jerry Loveall, Harley Files, Lyndle Byford, Leonard Jackson, Jo Auld, and Rick McKown.
Honorary bearers will be Lloyd Ely, Jerb Bryant, John Saville and Kenneth Eason.
Family visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Friday - July 30, 2021 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Velma.
