Services for Raymond Drury Chaney, 93, of Healdton, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the River of Life Church in Wilson with Rev. Jim Duck officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home at Healdton.
Raymond was born May 18, 1930, at Ratliff City to the late Mr. Drury Chaney and Mrs. Lottie Lometa (Kyle) Chaney. He departed this life Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at his home.
Raymond was raised east of Healdton, where he still resided. He attended school at Fox. Raymond married the former Ms. Barbara Austin in 1984 at Ringling. The couple made their home in Healdton and Raymond worked as a Carpenter, painter, and was most recognized for being the custodian of Zaneis Public School. He always loved working with wood and doing things for others. Raymond was a faithful member of the River of Life Church where he attended regularly.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Drury Chaney and Lometa Collier; wife, Barbara Chaney on January 9, 2023; brother, Thomas Euel Chaney.
Survivors include his brothers, Berford “Bert” F. Chaney and wife Teresea of Hammon, OK and Melvin Chaney and wife Linda of Healdton; numerous nieces and nephews, other family, and many friends.
Casket bearers will be Bobby Chaney, Robert Chaney, Greg Chaney, Waylon Chaney, Mike Curato and Tate Chaney.
Honorary bearer is Josh Chaney.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Healdton.
