Rayford Haskell Way

Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Rayford Haskell Way, 82, are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Chaplain Ricky Way officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Rayford was born November 11, 1927 at Reck to the late Mr. Frank Jefferson Way and Mrs. Bertha May (Stewart) Way. He departed this life Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Ardmore Veterans Center.

Rayford was raised at the Reck Community. He joined the United States Army May 12, 1946 serving during WWII. He was honorably discharged October 25, 1947 and received the WWII Victory Medal and the Occupation Japan Medal for his service as an infantryman. He married the former Ms. Joyce Helen Paxson July 18, 1952 at Wilson.

Rayford was employed in the Oilfield all of his working years. He worked for Kobe in Ratliff City for 44 years. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed Quail Hunting and occasionally deer hunting. He also loved to fix up old tractors and cars and was an avid OU and Texas Rangers fan.

Those that preceded him in death are his Parents, Son, Danny Way, Sr. – March 17, 1999 and Granddaughter Shanda Way, August 4, 1988 and Brothers, J.C., Raymond, Robert, Jeff, and Bill, and Sisters, Juanita and Blondell.

Survivors include his loving wife Joyce of the home, Sons, Ricky Way and wife Donna, of Colorado Springs, Tommy Way and wife Sherri and Terry “Moose” Way both of Wilson. Sisters, Aubrene Boles and husband Dale of Wilson, and Joann Johnson and husband Dale of Stratford. Brother, Freddy Way and wife Loretta of Healdton. Daughter in Law, Joann Way of Wilson. 8 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. Numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers are Danny Way, Jr., Dustin Way, Joey Way, John Way, Jeremy Way, and Bobby Way.

Honorary Bearers are Rebecca (Way) Hussey, Jaci (Way) Canada and the late Shanda Way.

Family visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday Afternoon at the funeral home in Wilson.
