Wilson – Graveside Services for Mr. R. A. Lindsey, Jr., 93 formerly of Wilson are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Hewitt Cemetery with Rev. Michael Tom officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
R. A. was born in Bokchito, OK to the late Mr. Russell Albert Lindsey, Sr. and Mrs. Gladys Aribell (Gardner) Lindsey on January 29, 1924. He departed from this life on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in Ardmore.
R. A. was raised in Wilson quitting school in the 11th grade to enter into the US Navy. After the military, he moved to Ft. Worth in 1949. R. A. worked for General Dynamics in Ft. Worth as a electronics Technician for 32 years. After retirement, he worked for Boeing for 5 years. R. A. returned to Wilson in 1994 and was extremely active in collecting metal and hauling it to Ft. Worth. At the age of 79, R. A. received his diploma in 2004 from Wilson High School. He was a member of the VFW of Azle, TX.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and a brother, Bill Lindsey.
R. A. is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jean Avery of Ft. Worth; sons, Robert Lee Lindsey and wife Karen of Azle and Bobby Wayne Lindsey and wife Deanna of Duncan; sisters, Mariquinn Cole of Kingston and Joyce Cooper of Ft. Worth; brothers, Deryal Lindsey and wife Wanda of Ft. Worth, and Dwain Lindsey and wife Shelia of Kingston; sister in law, Elaine Lindsey of Ft. Worth; 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
