Peter Jeffrey Cassity

Ringling- Graveside Services for Mr. Peter J. “Hoppy” Cassity, 72, of Ringling, are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, June 16. 2012 at McAlister Cemetery in Overbrook with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Services are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Ringling.

P.J. was born February 5, 1940 at Brownfield, TX to the late Mr. Hobart Floyd Cassity and Mrs. Grossie Alma (Briscoe) Cassity. He departed this life Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Ardmore.

P.J. was originally raised at West Texas, not moving to Ringling until 1951. He graduated High School in 1959 at Ringling and moved to Dallas shortly afterwards and began his career with the Dallas Fire Department. There, he was a Dallas fireman for a number of years retiring in 1982 as a Lieutenant.

P.J. also lived at Thackerville for a few years owning and operating a cattle operation. He also resided at Lone Grove before moving back to Ringling in the late 1980’s. During his retirement he enjoyed spending his summers at Kellogg, Idaho with his family and friends.

Preceding him in death are his Parents; Two Sisters, LaFern Wooley and Mary E. Ford.

Survivors include his Daughters, Dea Miller and husband Donnie of Lone Grove and Vena Hamje and husband Matt of Dallas; Son Brian Cassity and wife Marina of Queen Creek, AZ; Brother, Bud Cassity and wife Lavonne of Dallas, TX; 5 Grandchildren, Kristi Hammett, Erin Vaca, Duncan Hamje, Megan Hamje and Boone Cassity; 6 Great Grandchildren, Samantha Hammett, Logan Hammett, Marissa Hammett, Trente Cochran, Star Vaca and Skye Vaca. Numerous other family and friends.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday Evening at the funeral home in Ringling.
