Lone Grove- Services for Peggye Anna (West) Daniels, 91, of Lone Grove, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with Rev. Bill Black and Scott Renfro officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove Memorial West Cemetery.

Peggye was born on February 13, 1933, at Lone Grove, to the late Mr. William Edgar West and Mrs. Alice Mae (Musgrave) West. She departed this life Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Peggye grew up in Lone Grove where she attended school all of her life. She excelled in school, skipping the Second Grade and graduated High School as Salutatorian, with the class of 1950. There was just a one-point difference between her and the Valedictorian, who Peggye often claimed would cheat off of her. After graduation, Peggye went to work for the telephone company, where she later retired from. She married Mr. Bill Daniels in 1951, and from this marriage three children were born, Billye, Mike, and Mark. As a family, they traveled to many states, chasing the oilfield work. Peggye could have a trailer and all the kids ready in less than an hour. She was so strong-willed, determined, and very independent. As her boys grew and became involved in the rodeo circuit, Peggye would haul the kids, trailers, and horses all over. She took great pride in being the longest standing member of the First Baptist Church in Lone Grove. Peggye was a woman of fashion, which included a love for shoes, many different hairstyles, and clothes. She enjoyed traveling with her brother and his family to places all around the world like Europe, the Bahamas, Mexico, Alaska, Washington DC, and many other places. After settling back in Lone Grove, she played on a bowling league and carried a high score of 212. Peggye taught herself to swim at the age of 50. She enjoyed making Christmas candy every year for all of her family. She was very active in the lives of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her son, Mark Daniels; niece, Mariann West; brother, Henry “Eugene” West; sisters, Gladys Keith and Betty Rountree; granddaughter, Jennifer Neher.

Peggye is survived by her daughter, Billye Neher of the home; son, Michael Daniels of Healdton; grandchildren, Deanna Light and Bryan Warren, Chris and Jammey Howard, Scott and Allyson Neher, Amy and Scott Refro, Ali and Jacob Rose; her fur snuggle buddies, Ranger, Rowdy, Roxie, and Missy; 11 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kash Rose, Klay Rose, Rigen Howard, Tyler Neher, Colin Neher, and Boston Neher.

Honorary bearers are Damian Pierce, Hanna Renfro, Bella Renfro, Dylan Neher, and Jacobi Zimms.

Public viewing will begin Tuesday morning at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
