Wilson - Funeral Services for Mrs. Peggy Sue (Tynes) Henry, 85 of Ardmore are scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Southwest Baptist Church in Ardmore with Dr. Bruce Kirby officiating. Interment will follow to Hewitt Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
Peggy was born on March 25, 1938 in Orr, Oklahoma to the late Earl Tynes and Artie Letha Kimbrell of Springer. She departed from this life on February 26, 2024 in Oklahoma City.
Peggy lived most of her childhood around the Ardmore area. She attended Plainview schools from first through eleventh grade and graduated from Springer High School in 1956. She worked as a Cosmetologist Instructor in Texas, then sold Real Estate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She moved with her family back to Ardmore in 1978 and worked for DHS as a clerical and administrative assistant, where she retired after 23 years of service in 2003. Peggy and Claudie Henry married on October 29, 1992 at Gainesville, Texas.
Peggy had a green thumb and enjoyed bringing clippings from her plants to grow in each new home; some of the plants even belonged to her late mother. She enjoyed fishing, camping and especially singing and making music. One way that Peggy served the Lord was by singing and teaching Bible study on Sunday mornings at Southbrook nursing home in Ardmore. She was a member of the Southwest Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Claudie Ray Henry; daughter Elizabeth Patten; brothers Hershel, Frank, John, Jimmy, Eugene, Ed, Robert and James; sisters Nettie, Lela, May, Martha, Joyce, Mary, Cleona, Leona, Ada and Dorothy.
Peggy is survived by her daughters Susan Conway and husband Danny of Lone Grove, Patricia Swanzy of Dallas and Sharla Brown and husband John of Oklahoma City; son Claude E. Henry and wife Alisha of Ardmore; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Robert Shlemon, William Shlemon, Claude E. Henry, Danny Conway, John Brown, and Rabun Williams.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7 P.M. at Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.
