Countyline ~ Home Going Services to honor Peggy Joyce (Elledge) Layn ~ Nye, 92, will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Countyline Baptist Church, with Rev. Jason Williams and Rev. Jamie Griffin officiating. Her nephew, Chris Elledge, will provide the Eulogy. Interment will follow at Claud Cemetery, under the compassionate care of Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.

On August 8, 2024, Peggy peacefully passed away in Duncan, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. Peggy was born on January 1, 1932, in Ardmore to the late Mr. Troy B. Elledge and Mrs. Annie Irene (McClure) Elledge.

Throughout her life, Peggy was deeply rooted in faith as a longtime member of the Countyline Baptist Church. Her devotion to the church reflected her unwavering love for the Lord.

Peggy's life was marked by significant milestones. She married Mr. James Walter "Chub" Layn on December 13, 1947, and they were blessed with three children. Following Chub's passing in 1982, she later found happiness again with Frank Nye, whom she married on March 23, 1986, until his passing in 2003.

Known for her culinary talents, Peggy's homemade pies and Halloween popcorn balls were beloved by all who knew her. Her generous spirit extended beyond the kitchen as she believed in the comforting power of a shared meal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, J.W. "Chub" Layn and Frank Nye; brother, Troy "Sonny" Elledge.

Peggy's memory will be forever treasured by her daughters, Mary Beth McGuire of Velma and Wilma Hatley and husband Larry of Edmond; son, James Layn of Velma; grandchildren, Merle Brant Young, Aaron Jason Young, Alan McGuire (Michelle) Andy McGuire (Holly), Geoff Hatley, Jenni Wedman (Tyler) Aubree Layn, Molly Hutchens (Noah) and Jordan Haley (Ryan); 12 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Casket Bearers will be Jason Young, Alan McGuire, Andy McGuire, Chris Elledge, Jake McGuire and Andrew McGuire.

Honorary Bearers are Larry Hatley, Doug Briscoe, Stan Shafer, Noah Hutchens, Ryan Haley and Tyler Wedman.

In remembrance of Peggy's life, donations may be made to the Countyline Baptist Church P.O. Box 146 Velma, OK 73491. 

Family visitation will take place from 6 to 8 pm on Monday evening at Alexander Gray Velma Chapel.
