Paul Edward Morris

Paul Edward Morris,91, area teacher, passed away Monday, January 19th, 2015. Paul was born and grew up in Akron, Ohio on July 10th, 1923 to Brady and Hazel (Coburn) Morris the oldest of five siblings. His services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23rd, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel in Wilson with burial at Rose Hill cemetery in Ardmore.

Paul was part of “America’s Greatest Generation”, he left Ohio when he enlisted in the U.S. Army at onset of World War II in 1942. It was while he was in training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma that he met his life’s love Mary Edna Cozad from Allen, Oklahoma. Paul served in the Pacific during World War II, as a Medic in 7th Division, 767 Tank Battalion. He and his band of brothers were on the first wave of five beach heads in the war, in which he earned four bronze stars, three with bronze leaves. Paul was honorably discharged after the war in 1945, after which he hurried to Oklahoma to marry Mary on January 11th 1946, who had been waiting for his return.

Paul attended East Central University in Ada, but earned his degree in Agriculture from Oklahoma A & M in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He and Mary moved to Lone Grove Oklahoma in 1951, where he taught Vo-Ag. This was the start for them, and making friendships that lasted throughout their lives. Paul and Mary had two children Charles and Keyla. Paul later entered the Dairy business with his good friend Fred Taliaferro, then the tractor business in Ardmore. In 1968 he returned to education serving as the principal at Springer, Oklahoma. Paul returned to Vo-Ag and FFA, in 1971 becoming the instructor at Wilson, under his good friend Wesley Hull. He taught there until his retirement in 1982. Paul truly enjoyed teaching and his students, making friendships. He was proud to teach, often commenting how many of his students at Wilson were the children of his Lone Grove students. His wife Mary also a teacher was ever at his side throughout. After his retirement Paul

continued work on tractors, and volunteered at Mercy Hospital, gaining over 3000 hours.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Lucille and Janet; and his brothers John and Doyle. His wife and love, Mary preceded him in 1984.

He is survived by his children Charles Brady Morris of Norman, his daughter Keyla Sue Almond and her husband Gary of Lone Grove. His Grandchildren that he loved and enjoyed throughout his life, Amber Fawcett and her husband Joshua of Oklahoma City; Justin Almond and wife Tiffany with their three girls Kayton, Addison, Jocelyn, of Lone Grove. Not forgetting his very special family of: David and Desiree Hull and Debbie Henderson; Errol, Steve, Jimmy and Joanie Taliaferro.

Pallbearers are Charlie Rutledge, Errol Taliaferro, Steve Taliaferro, Jimmy Taliaferro, David Hull, Robert McClanahan.

Honorary Bearers are all of his VO - AG Students from Lone Grove and Wilson and the ladies and gentlemen that he worked with at the hospital the years that he volunteered there.

The Family would like to thank the Nurses from Health Back who attended to Paul. Also our gratitude and love to all the friends of our parents that we lovingly inherited.

Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
