Pat (Herell) Horn was born in Wirt, OK to John and Alice Fariss Herell on January 6, 1931. She passed from this life Monday, October 27, 2014 at Ardmore, OK.

Pat graduated from Brownstown, IL high school in 1948 then attended college for two years at Southern Illinois University. In 1950 she moved to Fittstown Oklahoma to live with her parents. While there she met and married Almen Dell Horn. The couple lived in Texas for 10 years where all six of their children were born. Moving back to Oklahoma, she lived in Oklahoma City for a time before taking up residence in Wilson. In 1969 Pat earned her bachelor's degree in secondary education at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma . Her love of learning lead her to teach school at Fox, Olney and Lone Grove, Oklahoma. For her, the years of teaching were a great adventure. She enjoyed her students, their ideas and the interactions she had with them. Most years she was the sponsor of some school organization and was especially fond of yearbook. When there was a deadline to meet she would invite the girls to spend the night at her house so they could work on the yearbook. She enjoyed the "slumber party" as much as did any of her students. While teaching school in Lone Grove she earned her Masters degree in English Literature. A program offered through New York University gave her the opportunity to spend summers in Oxford, England working on her degree.

These summers in England sparked her desire to travel. Each summer she found a new place to visit and sights to see. In 1984 she retired from teaching so she could spend more time traveling, shopping and playing with her grandchildren. After seeing an ad in a magazine seeking people to work in the national parks she signed up. From 1994 to 2003 she spent months at a time working as a reservationist in Yellowstone Park. While there she made many friends with whom she worked, explored the park and traveled. In 2003 she retired a second time and spent the rest of her life traveling, being entertained by her grandchildren and working in her garden.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Almen Dell Horn, father John Herell, mother Alice "Granny" Herell , brother Ted Herell and Sister Sue Drennan.
