Pamela Joy Black

January 28, 1954 — July 20, 2017

Oswalt - Graveside Services for Mrs. Pamela Joy (Cox) Black, 63, of Ardmore is scheduled for 11:00 AM Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Oswalt Cemetery of Oswalt with Dr. Walt Spradling and Tim Jones officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.


Pam was born on Jan. 28, 1954 at San Antonio, TX to the late Mr. Bobby Gene Cox and Mrs. Patsy Ruth (Rigsby) Cox. She went to her heavenly home on Thursday morning, July 20, 2017 at the Ardmore hospital.


Pam was raised with her family evangelizing all over the southern United States. They settled in Wilson when Pam was in 7th grade. She attended school at Wilson as part of the Class of 1972. At Wilson she met the love of her life, Philip Black. They were united in marriage on May 27, 1972 at the Assembly of God Church of Wilson. From that moment on they were inseparable sharing every memory together.

They attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University of Durant where Pam received her Bachelor’s degree in Education. She was certified to teach grades first thru twelve, and did so at several communities in the surrounding area. Lastly Pam was an English teacher at Turner Public Schools for 8 years before she retired. She always loved and remembered all of her students throughout the years.


Pam always had a word of encouragement for her family in which she adored so much. She enjoyed shopping , traveling and loved singing for the Lord. She was always very sweet to everyone and she was very fond of her dogs Tippy and Taz. Pam enjoyed being a longtime member of the Crystal Rock Cathedral of Ardmore and most recently had enjoyed attending and listening to the music at Rawhide Cowboy Church of Gene Autry.


Preceding her in death were her Parents, Bobby and Patsy Cox; mother in law, Betty Lou Black ; nephew, Cody Wade and nephew Joey Mack Bailey.


Survivors include her loving husband, Mr. Philip Black of the home; daughter, Philecia Williams and husband Robert of Ardmore; son, Brandon Black and wife Tammy of Ardmore; brother, Bobby D. Cox and wife Theresa of Ardmore; father in law, Lonnie J. Black, Jr. of Lone Grove; grandchildren, Cameron Williams, Kaytlin Williams, Mikayla Williams, Alexis Black, Blake Black and Brody Black; numerous other family and friends.


Casket Bearers are Cameron Williams, Blake Black, Cory Cox, Jared Willis, Jeffrey Keith, Jamey Keith, Josh Buck and Matt Edmonds.


Honorary Bearers are Alexis Black, Kaytlin Williams, Mikayla Williams, Brody Black and all of her first cousins.
