Wilson – Funeral Services for Mr. Orval Forrest Fitzsimmons, 89, longtime resident of Wilson is scheduled for 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Rexroat Baptist Church with Rev. Monte Dean officiating. Interment will follow at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.
Orval was born November 14, 1921 at Wilson to the late Mr. Samuel Hawkins Fitzsimmons and Mrs. Beulah Bessie (McMillan) Fitzsimmons. He departed this life Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Ardmore.
Orval was raised south of Wilson attending school at Bryan Red. He joined the United States Navy and served honorably during WWII as part of the SeeBee Division. Returning home after the War, Orval was self employed at several local business in Wilson before becoming employed with Mobil Oil. He was employed with Mobil Oil company for 34 years. In his retirement, Orval enjoyed gardening, tinkering with Lawnmowers and spending time with his grandchildren.
Preceding him in death is his Parents; Brothers, Elmer, Chester, Lavoy and a Sister, Lila.
Survivors include his Daughters, Linda Cockerell of Fernandina, Beach, FL, and Tammy Rutledge- Legere and husband Bruce of Dallas, TX; Grandchildren, Amy Harris and husband Anthony, Misty Norton, Lance Norton and Amanda Phemister, and Tessa Smith; Great Grandchildren, Tyler, Ashlyn and Chase Harris, Noah Norton, Ethan Zollinger and Izabella Quiroz; Nephew, Mr. Barry Fitzsimmons and wife Shirley of Moore. Numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers are Larry Snell, Doug Smith, Bobby Williams, Erbie Taylor, Terrell Tucker, and Dennis Burch.
Honorary Bearers are Barry Fitzsimmons, Teddy Warren, Joe Watson, Kenneth Fitzsimmons, Brian Fitzsimmons, Michael Bailey and Keith Bailey.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amanda for her heartfelt care and devotion to Orval.
Family visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Wilson.
